The whole country of New Zealand will be abuzz with activity throughout the 2011 Rugby World Cup tournament, but the city of Auckland will be the centre point for all the action. Situated on the North Island, New Zealand's largest city will play host to several events and activities, as well as qualifying and final matches. Although many round robin and qualifying rounds will be played in other cities throughout New Zealand, all are easily accessible via a short plane ride or by land in a luxury motor coach.
Eden Park
The largest stadium in New Zealand, located in the country's largest city of Auckland, this venue is home to the tournament's main events. From the opening match to the semi-finals, Bronze final and final matches, this stadium will showcase rugby's best teams and players for the world to see. Located in the heart of Auckland, it will soon be redeveloped to hold
60,000 spectators.

North Harbour Stadium
Designed with rugby codes in mind, this stadium is made to ensure fans
enjoy the best possible view of the action. A seating capacity of 30,000,
North Harbour Stadium in North Shore has hosted several sporting events in
the past, including the FIFA U17 Women's World Cup, Rugby Union and rugby
league internationals.

Waikato Stadium
Formerly known as Rugby Park, this stadium in Hamilton has been the site
of rugby matches since 1925. Since 2002, Waikato Stadium has hosted an
international rugby match every year, making this 30,000 plus capacity
stadium one of the premier rugby venues in New Zealand.

Northland Events Centre
Currently under construction, this brand new stadium will hold 20,000
spectators during two round robin matches. Situated in the Northland
region city of Whangarei, the area has a historic rugby past, with several
international games being played at the city's old stadium, including the
1998 match between New Zealand Maori and Tonga.

Rotorua International Stadium
Originally built in 1911, this 34,000 capacity stadium has been renovated
several times since. Mainly used for rugby, it has also hosted football
matches in its time, as well as softball, which has a designated field at
the northern end.

Stadium Taranaki
In 2002, Stadium Taranaki underwent major redevelopment, which saw the
addition of two new grandstands. By 2010, further enhancements will be
completed, and the stadium will be able to support over 25,500 spectators.
This New Plymouth stadium has hosted several types of rugby league
matches, from All Black games to local school matches.

McLean Park
If any major rugby, cricket or other sporting match is to be played in the
Hawke's Bay area, McLean Park is where it's held. Situated in the centre
of Napier city, this 18,700 seat capacity stadium is slightly smaller than
others around New Zealand. However, the stadium has undergone renovations
to the match lighting, and has an entirely new grandstand complete with a
corporate entertainment complex.

Arena Manawatu
This stadium is located in an 18 hectare, park-like environment, with 33
individual indoor and outdoor venues. The grounds on which the stadium is
built was once used for training troops during World War II. It also
played host to the first ever Super 12 Rugby match in 1996.

Wellington Regional Stadium
Situated in New Zealand's capital city, Wellington Regional Stadium will
feature several round robin and quarter-final matches. With temporary
seating set up for the tournament, this stadium will hold 40,000 rugby
fans. It has held major sporting events in the past, and was a part of
Peter Jackson's Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers film, when he recorded
30,000 chanting fans during a cricket match.

Trafalgar Park
This stadium area has a sporting history that dates back to the later
1800's, when it was originally used for cricket matches. The Nelson city
stadium has undergone several upgrades over the years to allow for types
of sports to be showcased, and is currently undergoing more upgrades to
increase its seating capacity to over 20,000.

Stadium Christchurch
The second largest city in New Zealand also has the second largest
stadium, with a permanent capacity of 40,000. Upgrades to the stadium are
underway, and will boost the capacity for the Rugby World Cup. The stadium
has hosted many major sporting events, and has been the site of cricket
and rugby matches since 1880, when the stadium was first founded.

Carisbrook
Known worldwide as The House of Pain' due to its solid reputation as a
difficult venue for visiting teams Carisbrook main use is for rugby.
However, the Dunedin venue has also hosted football and motocross matches,
as well as cricket, which was its original intention when it was first
developed in the 1870's.

Rugby Park Stadium
In New Zealand's Southland area, Rugby Park Stadium is a focal point for
the sport. Established in the early 1900s, it was redeveloped in 2001, and
currently has a seating capacity of 20,000.
